The Ford F-150 Raptor Uses Racing Technology to Become the Ultimate Off-Road Machine

If you are a thrill seeker that dreams of carving through dunes, plowing through mud and tackling the roughest of trails, the Ford F-150 Raptor was designed for you. Ford engineers took technology from their Pro 4 off-road racing trucks and trickled it down to into a street legal truck. Racing technology present in the F-150 Raptor includes a military-grade aluminum-alloy body, FOX racing suspension and a twin-turbo EcoBoost engine. These high-tech performance features transform the F-150 from an ordinary work truck into an off-road beast that scoffs at the idea of undrivable terrain.

Suspension is what wins Baja and other off-road racing events. Ford kept this in mind when designing the Raptor. The Raptor is standard equipped with FOX Live Valve Shocks on its suspension. These shocks allow the Raptor to ride over dunes, rocks and plow through mud. This high-tech suspension using automatically adjusting technology to tackle a wide variety of terrain. The adjusting changes the damping based on the terrain you are driving over and how aggressively you attack it. Thanks to the racing suspension, few places on Earth are off limits to the Raptor.

Powering the Raptor is a standard high-output twin-turbo intercooled DOHC 24-valve 3.5L EcoBoost engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. This twin-turbo V-6 engine utilizes direct injection to generate 450 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft of torque. This hefty amount of power allows the driver to go off-road and to do it at racing speeds.

If you are planning on exploring the wilderness outside of Knoxville, the Ford F-150 Raptor is a truck designed for you. Visit us at Lance Cunningham Ford to take a test drive in one of these off-road beasts.
