What engine comes standard in the 2018 Ford Explorer?

When you are considering purchasing a vehicle, you should first consider the engine that comes standard issue with the make and model in any given year. The standard engine establishes the performance bar beneath which engineers and manufacturers refuse to go. With that information in mind, you know what base performance level you can expect from the vehicle.

The 2018 Ford Explorer uses the 3.5-Liter EcoBoost engine as its standard power provider. The 3.5-Liter engine is a V-6 engine that is turbocharged, and fuel injected. The engine develops 365-horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. torque. With that kind of power, you might expect a low fuel mileage ratio. However, this engine sips fuel at the rate of 17 mpg city/24 mpg highway for a combined 21 mpg fuel economy rating.
